There's got to be something in the water in Wellington. The kids coming out of the capital are pushing art's boundaries in every which direction.
Avito is one of those kids. Born in WLG ~19 years ago, he spends his days tending to a kebab shop, and his nights making "cartoon basic beats." I first stumbled upon his music by way of his somewhat disconcertingly eclectic Instagram, before entering into conversation with the dude - who, it turns out, is probably the closest thing New Zealand has to the unbridled creativity of Tyler, The Creator.
By his own words, the dream is to retire at 40 to drive a coffee and waffle van around Wellington with his girl, Olivia Edington, who as it turns out is more than on the creative wave length - she's been supporting his music with art to package it up since the dawn of Avito's Soundcloud. This latest release is no different:
We asked Avito some questions.
What's the track about?
Honestly it's about nothing. I just wanna make stuff.
It's just where I am with the music.
Is there an EP on the horizon?
I'm just trying to make music I can perform. I need to perform. I need to get on the map.
When are the shows?
