Let's not get carried away here. The cocktails are back, and we're having a party.
We'll roll back into the swing of things with an old favourite. This right here is a twist on the Dark n Stormy; one which we're very happy with. The Dark n Stormy was created by Gosling’s Black Seal rum, and you actually cannot call it a Dark ’n’ Stormy (note the trademarked punctuation) without using Gosling’s rum and Gosling's Ginger beer. However, iterations of bar menus past have called for different ingredients, and you can get away with skipping the apostrophe’s.
Using Stolen Spiced Rum, we add an extra flavour twist from the usual combo of rum, bitters, sugar, lime, ginger beer, as well as subbing in some orange bitters to the mix. Expect rounded tones off the bat, with an underlying spice to kick off the evening. Best enjoyed later in the evening, though, as a couple of these will definitely get you going.
- 45ml Stolen Spiced Rum
- 25ml Fresh Lime Juice
- 1 Dash Orange Bitters
- Top with ginger beer
- Shake all ingredients (except ginger beer) over ice
- Shake really f***ing hard
- Pour this straight into your tumbler; tall or short, it doesn't matter
- Top with ginger beer and crushed ice (if needed)
- Garnish with a lime, and enjoy
