Dishing it Out x Orleans Soup Kitchen

This is exactly what I’ve been waiting for. Winter is finally here; the snug nights of movies and chocolate are upon us, with the perfect meal to match – soup. The food snob in us may call for denial, but not much can beat the simple hearty goodness of soup during winter.

Orleans in Britomart’s Roukai Lane has brought to the fore something even better than soup. Free soup. I’ve been dreaming about this for months, and it’s better than I could have envisioned. Get amongst, every Monday lunchtime from 12-2pm.

From this week, Orleans will be dishing up free soup specialties throughout the rest of winter. This past Monday’s special saw the chefs prepare a sweet potato and mustard soup, with andouille sausage and puffed dirty rice; a curious concoction which offered more than merely warming you up. The hint of spice delicately supported the sausage and sweet potato components.

We can only be assured in the quality of these soups, as Orleans specialize in American-style fusion and straight hearty tucker.

First in, first served.

Analysts had expected that the increase in production would make Boeing deliver nearly 600 737 aircraft this year, 90% of which are MAX models. Boeing’s share price fell more than 2% in the hours after it announced the news on Friday, and the company’s current market value is $216 billion. Boeing’s market value has evaporated by more than $25 billion since last month’s fatal crash on a 737 MAX aircraft from Ethiopian Airlines.

Tinker Hatfield created them, Michael Jordan seared them in the general public’s collective memory with a scintillating shot against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1989 NBA Playoffs, and in the 30 years since.

I’m not out here to prove to these dudes that I’m the hardest mother—— in the league because they cussed at me on the court. But they know where I’m from and what I’m about. This Oakland. But I don’t take s— personal. My goal is to get the win.

While many Marvel fans were looking up theories and spoilers about Avengers: Endgame before its opening weekend, a whole other subset of people were quenching their thirst for Black Widow and Captain Marvel in… other ways. Pornhub reported that search traffic for Avengers and its main characters has skyrocketed in the days leading up to the film, further proving the old maxim (a.k.a. “Rule 34”) true: If there’s a topic out there that people even marginally care about, someone will make a porn about it.

It was my choice, but I was forced to make it before I was ready. The day I signed the paperwork to go forward with the procedure to (hopefully) preserve my fertility, I was handed a stack of forms that I realized most people had weeks to consider—at home, in the safety of their own space, with their partner or family or friends by their side. Instead, I was being asked to answer huge questions in 10 minutes; six weeks of radiation treatment really couldn’t wait. Some questions were straightforward, but others were harder. They asked what I’d want to happen to my eggs if something were to happen to me. Donate them to science? Destroy them? Donate them to another woman? Any woman or someone specific?
