The Best Tracks of the Week : : 10th April 2016

The incredible 2k16 just keeps churning the tunes out.

This week gave us highly anticipated full length releases by M83, Parquet Courts, Deakin (of Animal Collective), and Deftones. We were also treated with a pair of new tracks from Drake, in anticipation of Views from the 6, slated for an April 29th release. Elsewhere, Chance the Rapper released a music video for one of my favourite songs of 2015, “Angels”.

The M83 LP will be polarizing – Junk is a sprawling mess, but its cheesy, retro 80s vibe is very infectious. And Deakin’s Sleep Cycle, highlighted by a truly astounding closing track, is arguably the best Animal Collective affiliated record since 2009’s Fall Be Kind.

5. Flume – “Wall Fuck”

4. Parquet Courts – “Human Performance”

3. M83 – “Bibi The Dog”

2. Kaytranada – “Glowed Up (feat. Anderson .Paak)”

1. Deakin – “Good House”

Honourable Mentions:

Schoolboy Q – “Groovy Tony”

Yumi Zouma – “Keep It Close To Me”

The European Commission said on Friday that Volkswagen, BMW and Daimler violated antitrust laws and jointly delayed the launch of two emission purification systems between 2006 and 2014. Margrethe Vestager, the EU’s top official in charge of competition, said in a statement that companies can work together to improve products, but can’t agree not to compete for quality.
