Heading along Victoria Street, a sneaky detour down Graham Street leads you straight to Elk Eatery - yet another beautiful café with a focus on delivering healthy, wholesome meals… and a damn good coffee too.
Like most new eateries these days, Elk Eatery is a tribute to wellbeing, their motto, “Healthy Habits, not restrictions, fresh and simple food," is chalked in white on a large blackboard as you walk in. Alongside a delicious menu, the cabinets are stacked with hearty sandwiches, quinoa frittatas and fresh salads (like roast vegetable, edamame soba noodle and curried cauliflower), which change daily to keep you on your toes. A range of raw and baked treats on the front counter ready to hit that afternoon sweet tooth.
A statement piece, their matte black and copper Atomic coffee machine sits right up at the front of the café, manned by a Mr. Wayner Stalen. A man-bun wearing Brazilian, and third place NZ Latte Art Champion, whose perfectly crisp pours are an Elk Eatery icon. Although they’re more than just good looks, as these artistic brews are smooth, rich and creamy down to the last drop.
As implied by the name, Elk Eatery is rocking a quirky woodland vibe amongst the concrete jungle of Auckland’s CBD. Green succulents and vines sprout from the exposed brick walls, while large blackboards chalked with inspiring quotes complement the dark oak benches and chairs.
The perfect spot to escape for a morning coffee or lunch hour.
